This is my Great-great grandmother on my mother's side named Josie who lived locally in the Smoky Mountains of Tennessee and ran a farm most of her life.

Josie

That is my great-grandmother, Laurie Trentham who was born in the Smoky Mountain National Park before it was the Park. She built and ran Evertt's Court with her husband until his death, and then she did it with the help of her daughters, mainly my grandmother. She worked the court until she became too blind to work the desk, after that she stayed in the office everyday overseeing what she could almost up until her death in her late 90s.

Laurie Trentham

My Great-great grandmother on my mother's side named Marie (not pictured) was the mountain doctor for her area. If it had to do with births or deaths, animals or human, she was there - especially if the traveling doctor could not get to them in time. She also ran a farm herself, completely self-sufficient. They said she was a tiny woman and therefore she was great at helping delivering the animals.

This is my grandmother Johnnie Mae Terry on my Mom's side when she was as about age 18. She helped with my grandfather's well drilling business in the Tennessee Smoky Mountains of which she was a silent partner which was the style in the 50s.

Johnnie Mae Terry

Johnnie Mae Terry would rent out my mom's and her sister's room on the weekends when Pigeon Forge filled up when there was only 3 motels in town, way before Dollywood and cabins. She would call the money she earned from the renting rooms her "Powder Puff" money. She said that all ladies should have "Powder Puff" money so they could buy what they wanted when they wanted.

Johnnie Mae Terry's family came from the Boyds Creek area and her family can be traced back the Battle of Boyds Creek and were mostly Cherokee Indians. I believe that her great-grandmother was full blooded Indian.

This is my Grandmother on my Father's side Georgie Beeler at about age 18. She owned The Bumble Bee, a clothing store, Mountain Handcrafts, a craft store and Evertt's Court.

Georgie Beeler

She owned the motel with her mother and 3 sisters, but she is who lived at the court and did the daily business. Georgie Beeler just retired about 3 years ago, in her 80s, still doing most of the work at the court herself.

This is my business partner and Mom, Karen at about age 18. Growing up she ran a monogram business and help with my father's clothing store, The Bumble Bee in the Mountain Mall in Gatlinburg TN. Then she bought from my grandparents Valley View Motel in Pigeon Forge which she ran on her own until about 7 years ago. She now leases it.

Mom

This is me, Jacqueline Alexandra at about age 18. I started a cellular store with my husband, Air One Communications. I then worked for about 6 months for the Department of Tourism and started Alexandra's Goodie Baskets.
